The watch takes inspiration from a Cuban icon, the “Manjuari” fish. It’s a species particular to the Caribbean Sea, prehistoric in origin, indigenous and today protected, that all Cubans regard with affectionate respect. The new Robusto Manjuari 1882 is a sports watch with water resistance of nearly 600 metres – (or 1882 feet), a number that also stands for the year in which the brand was founded. Taking inspiration from the Manjuari was deliberate: this oddly-shaped fish is found on the Cuban one-peso coin and Cuervo y Sobrinos has engraved it on the back of each “Manjuari” watch.
