GSAR Bezel Triangle & Bracelet Questions

Just noted my triangle lume is missing.
Anyone know a source to replace or where to get quality lume paint to re-lume?

And, bracelet link screws are frozen. Opposing screwdrivers spin out spin since the thread is frozen. WD-40 or any other tips to loosen the micro screws on the links.?

Thank in advance for any tips...

Jay at MCWW has been known to take care of the Sars, since the lume pip has been known to fall out on many of them. I'm afraid I don't have any experience with the bracelet issues.

jack at iww works on sar's, that lume pip is just some lume tape.
Not sure what you mean about the link screws: is the screw end is jammed into the pin end and won't come loose? Or are both ends just spinning, as with damaged threads?

    Thank you Litlmn and David.
Yeah, I've heard of the pips falling out. Until now, didn't realize they are, essentially, tape.

Jack at IWW us great. He fixed it's rotor spin and also did an overhaul on my GSAR. Running great since. Nothing but good about Jack from me.

Did check with him on a bezel last week. Before the triangle ended up in the Bermuda Triangle last night. My bezel was already beat up. $75.00

But I will check with Jay too.

And, the screw thread is not stripped. Just can't get it loose. Real bummer as I need to move a link from 12 side to 6 side. Sits weird on my wrist as it is.

    Thank you, Gentlemen :)

Re: GSAR Bezel Triangle & Bracelet Questions

Goose, I have wood glued on my vice jaws and use a old sock, then I tighten down my bracelet with the link I want to loosen sticking up(screws horizonal). Then I us two screw drivers but I had to make two standard size screw drivers, I ground them both down on my grinder for a perfect fit in the tiny slot. The benifit of large handles made the job easy, loosened right up with very good hand grip / pressure. Make sure you fit the first screw diver head in and seated, then hold your position then seat the other then break one loose. ((((I could not do it with tiny screw drivers)))

Jim Madrid or Jack @ IWW should be able to give you a answer for you missing Lume.

I would email Marathon about the lume pip. I remember reading somewhere that someone got numerous lume pip stickers from Marathon when theirs fell out.

As for the bracelet, boil some water, take it off the burner, then let the bracelet sit in the hot water for a few minutes before trying to unscrew the bars. That should loosen up the red Loctite that Marathon puts on the link screws.

if you're going to be resizing double ended screw bars often, you might consider picking up something like the Bergeon 6745-100, it's very useful.

    Thanks Nam6869USMC, Clouser, & David...

The boil trick in conjunction with the thicker handled drivers did the trick.
When I felt those screws break loose, I was a happy camper :)

You can see the original driver I was using...too small even after boiling the bracelet.
So, got the thick ones. May actually grind a larger regular driver to have around. Can see where that would come in handy. Oh, used the vise to break 'em free like ya said 'Nam. Then I disassembled completely on my desk holding the bracelet stable with two-sided tape. All your tips worked great. Thanks.

As for the Bergeon...any thing with "Bergeon" is a dream for me. Expensive stuff. I'm more an eBay surfer like the tool pictured here. But, David, your tip lead me to it.

No reply from Marathon, yet. Jack doesn't have inserts or lume pips. Just full bezels at 75 clams. Said they can be tough to swap out. Will check w/ Jay for inserts. In the interim, I ordered some G.I. Joe lume tape.

    To others:
    1) Please remove the watch head before you boil your bracelet.
    2) See that small screw? Emphasis on small...have some tape near to stick it on so it doesn't disappear.
    3) Do not run with scissors.
