You shouldn't have any issues with either watch. My vote goes to the Longines just because I am fond of their watches and they have a great reputation for well-built pieces. The Certina is nice as well, but it doesn't have the class of the Longines imo. Neither watch will likely hold much of their retail value in the long run, so make sure you pick the "one". Having said that, I don't think you can go wrong with either...both very cool, unique watches that don't have the cult like followings of some of the other brands on WUS.

In black I like the Certina better, the Longines is not true black, kinda grey.... now the blue on the Longines is great.

I do like both watches but I think the Longines is a better built, and nicer finish with great attention to detail, but it does cost more.

I like both watches, but I would say: Longines. Nice presence (on bracelet or strap) and very well built. But of course, I'm biased; here is mine:

To be absolutely neutral in my opinion, I haven't looked at the other replies. The more versatile would in my opinion be the Hydroconquest. Actually, I thought about buying the Action Diver a while back, but ended up getting bored with the look...my assumption is that it looks too sporty to be used in any situation other than casual. Might only be my opinion, but that's what I thought. +1 for the Hydro.

Certina, Certina!! It is one sweet watch and the size is perfect. I have a 7" wrist.

Both nice but the Certina has a classic look I think that will never grow old.

Too many watches, only two wrists and never enough time...

    Certina.
longines bezel numbers clash with the indice numbers. Date window should be black. Some details do make a difference.

I'd disagree that the date window should be black - the oversized numbers would look goofy without something to balance off the other side.

I vote Certina as well. I dislike the Longines crown & guards & the busyness of the dial. 2 kinds of indices + 3 numerals is a bit much, IMO.
Homage watches democratize history for the common wrist.

    Cheers! +james
