I believe its not the caseback, just the lugs. The wrist could absorb some mm height

When you think about it, a watch with a raised caseback can't really sit completely flat. Not unless you have the strap so tight that the caseback is embedded in your wrist.

The rubber strap I have on the watch is actually super soft and flexible, it's just that the caseback won't allow the watch to sit flat. Good thing I bought a homage DSSD to try before buying the real thing.

The other two pics show how a watch should sit on the wrist, a Rotary Aquaspeed and a Seiko 6309-7040 (the most comfortable of any watch I have). I would never buy another watch that has a bulbous caseback. I don't know how owners of a gen DSSD feel, but for me it's just not a comfortable watch. I also have the bracelet for it, and it does feel a bit better on that.
I have also 2 Rotary Aquaspeed (the Aquaplunge and the "Royal Oak" Chrono) with very soft and totally flat case back. Just perfect! I should also mention my Prometheus Manta Ray, one of the most comfortable watch in my collection.

For me a bulbous extruded case back is simply a design error. Watches with these case backs can never follow the curve of your wrist. It's just impossible (it's two convex shape in front of one another). I run away from these watches. They are painful to wear.

Here's a little gallery of unpractical watches with extruded case backs:

    Have a wonderful time...

Zarith. Those watches you pictured look downright uncomfortable. I must check the caseback before I buy another watch.

WOW what a deformed wrist you have, I have never seen anything like that before well once on a hunting trip .

My wrist bone "bump" fits between the caseback and the strap. Keeps the watch from rotating for the most part. I think the bracelets are less noticeable for this issue because we are used to the watch moving around on our wrists. Please excuse my ape arms.

Hmm, I don't think this has ever been a concern for me.

A man's watch is a very cherished thing. You steal that, you might as well be stealing his soul.

To each their own, whats comfortable for me may not be comfortable for you, flat or raised caseback. My Artego isn't too crazy in a raised case back and sits very flat. My Dagaz Stealth also has a raised case back and I have not experienced the issue you are having. Guess I just got the wrist for it! Hahaha
