Thumbs Up Initial Impressions & Pics of Orient Star 200m WZ0351FD "Revolver"

I just posted this in the Japanese watch forum, and thought I would post it here too since there's not much floating around about the 200m divers.

Hey hey, So I have sized the bracelet and I've been wearing the new Orient Star Revolver for a little while now.

This thing has some real wrist presence. The bezel really attracts attention to the watch and I know that many people have negative opinions of the bezel...

I think the bezel is fantastic! It has a great feel, 60 clicks, and the markers line up very well. The bezel really isn't as overpowering in person as it seems to be in pictures. That being said, I do know that it is a deal breaker for many people. Then again, so is the Tuna's bezel, but I also love that one.

The watch is a little top heavy because of the thinness of the bracelet. It uses split pins, so resizing was a snap. The clasp is nice, but not as nice as the one on the Seiko BFK.

The black areas on the bezel seem to love fingerprints and the crystal loves lint. The hand and dial work are very nice. The metal outlines on the hour markers and hour and minute hands are very nicely done.

I love the yellow accents on the watch with the second hand and "200m" text on the dial. The yellow really makes the dial pop.

The movement is smooth and the power reserve indicator is really cool. The winding efficiency of this watch is phenomenal. One minute worth of gentle swirling will bring the power reserve up to 40 Hours from 0.

I love that Orient has done its own thing with the design of these divers. The date window at the 9:00 position along with the power reserve indicator make this watch fun to look at.

The lume is nice, not quite Seiko level, but still good.

Overall, I am very pleased with this new addition! I'll post more after I have spent more time with this fine Orient!

    enjoyed...

    seeing your pics.

when this model first debuted, i did not like the bezel. i have to say that the bezel is growing on me though...i've not completely in love with it but it's not bad as i previously thought. and there are aspects of the watch which i do like that set it apart from most divers.

    thanks for the post.

I know a lot of people had pretty violent reactions to the bezel when the watch was released. Perhaps that's part of the allure for me. Overall, this is a quality piece from a rather eccentric Japanese watch company.

Orient reminds me of Honda. Honda has always been known as the eccentric, rebellious automaker in Japan because of its history as a motorcycle manufacturer. I see Orient as that same type of company among Seiko (playing the role of Toyota) and Citizen (playing the role of Nissan).

Those are great pictures. I'm leaning towards this watch. I have the 300M in yellow so I'm thinking this one in black. Bezel can be a bit overwhelming but I like it and alway have.

Once again thanks to the detailed pictures. I haven't seen too many of the watch.

Nice review and pictures. Alot of nice points on that one and same caseback as the OS300. Seems like the winding is more efficient on the 200 than the 300 -- it takes me about 3 or 4 minutes to take the power reserve meter from "0" to "40" hours on the 300. But it also sounds like they must have used a lower lume on the 200's because the 300's blow away any Seiko I've ever seen. The Sawtooth comes the closest to matching the 300 in the lume department, but still less intensity.

Would you describe the bezel tension as much tighter than a Seiko? Or, about the same? Thanks for the review.

Nice one! One of the best looking Orient Stars I've seen so far.

The 200m air diver is seriously under appreciated! The bezel looks busy in pictures but totally pulls it off in person! It also wears a bit better than the 300m!
