    It's raining purple watches!!

    Yeah,

I got my replacement Bathys today and I'm happy to report that so far I have had no crown/clutch issues !

Its been great dealing with John at BathysHawaii and his customer support has been just what he said it would be, 100% satisfaction. I can tell you that he has a future customer for his automatic release in early 2007 (can I reserve one now?).

I read a post earlier about someone thinking that the watch might be "too purple". It does have shades of purple, but it actually is multicolored depending on the angle of light that you view the watch in. John's description is apt, but you have to wear one to really appreciate it. The colors are very three dimensional...... hypnotic.

Okay back to work for me. Thank you John for your service and for your awesome watch.

    Regards,
    Mark

    Mark,

I agree with you completely. We have found a watchmaker who cares about his customers, and his product. I also would be willing to prepay for whatever Johns next watch is regardless...

Thanks for that vote of confidence Elliott, however I do not feel comfortable having a bunch of other peoples' money in hand while I work out the details of my designs. Truth is, there can be long unexpected delays (like my issue with the sapphire crystals) and if I was the customer I would be unhappy if my money was tied up in someone else's venture while they got it sorted out. Also we like to put the watch through its paces before we turn it loose, and this can take 2-4 months at least.

I'm not an affluent guy by any means, so my plan has always been to start small and build slowly, and not make (too many) mistakes. This is one reason I chose to use a quartz movement in my first release, and is definitely the reason I chose to have my watches made in Switzerland. I need something that my customers (and I) can depend on to be reliable. In this way I can use my sales to bankroll future design and testing. I am trying to do this in the most honest way I can.

But still thanks, because I think what you are really saying is that you believe in what I'm doing and that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. :-D

Mark I'm glad things look OK now. Thanks for your patience.

Ahhh...finally done packing up watches for the day....There's only about 30 UV PVDs left!

    Aloha,
    John

Well, I received my Bathy's today.

Unfortunately, it has a pin-head size bit of PVD missing above the '12 position. I have just now emailed John with pics and really don't want to say too much until John has a chance to respond.

I would agree with whomever said it is very purple. I am looking forward to seeing it in daylight. I'm sure it is a bit of a Chameleon (spelling?).

Anyway, I hope to resolve the problem quickly.

Here's one pic and I will be sure to take more later. (sorry for the crappy pic, I promise to take good ones during daylight hours).

    Thanks,
    Gerry in Spokane

OK people I urge you to help John clear the last few watches he has. I can gaurentee you that when you open the fully usable waterproof case, you will have the same reaction I did. WOW will come right to mind. I am extremely happy with my purchase, and will be anxiously awaiting whatever Johns next Bathys project is. I honor his reluctance to take prepayment, and understand his reluctance to do so.

However this is a watch designer, and maker who is in touch not only with his customers, but also what is functional, usable, and attractive in a watch, and also manages to provide the highest quality product, at the lowest possible price.

I await Johns next Bathys project.

    Sincerely,

    Elliott

P.S. No coating missing here take a look...

    Hi Gerry,

This is unacceptable. A new watch will be in the mail to you tomorrow. Check your email for further details.

You guys know I won't let you down.

Still not sure how this got past me.

...as I knew he would. Shipping this one back and I think I may have overstated the size of the spot although, with it being silver/steel underneath it really stuck out. Things happen and I know you've been trying to get these in our hand's ASAP so you are definately forgiven.
    Thanks John,
    Gerry

    That is UGLY!

    How did I miss that?

B-) What kind of lame-ass company put their name on that?? B-)

I had one watch I had pulled out with this exact defect, and somehow I think Gerry got it. Eeesh.

And yes, no matter how hard I try, I'm resigned to both having small problems and fixing them ruthlessly.

    My apologies Gerry.

    John
