The Speedmaster is the only thing we took to the Moon that had no modification whatsoever – it was right off the shelf. What’s interesting about my first one is that it’s beat up, it’s never been cleaned, it’s never been repaired and to this day I can take that watch and wind it and it keeps time as well as the day I got it. And I’ve walked in space with it for two and a half hours and worn it on the Moon for over three days.
Louis Winthorpe III: This is a Rouchefoucauld. The thinnest water-resistant watch in the world. Singularly unique, sculptured in design, hand-crafted in Switzerland, and water resistant to three atmospheres. This is *the* sports watch of the '80s. Six thousand, nine hundred and fifty five dollars retail!
Pawnbroker: You got a receipt?
Louis Winthorpe III: Look, it tells time simultaneously in Monte Carlo, Beverly Hills, London, Paris, Rome, and Gstaad.
Pawnbroker: In Philadelphia, it's worth 50 bucks.
Louis Winthorpe III: Just give me the money.
Orient 300m .... similar to Seiko Marinemaster , but cheaper and bigger
I just picked up a Seiko "Shogun" SBDC007. In terms of size and shape, I think it's the closest to a Sub. The others are just a tad too thick for my liking. Also the "Shogun" is Titanium... which is totally cool, if that's your thing. I dig the feather weight and slightly cooler (physically - it has a darker, bluer hue than SS; and metaphorically - it's COOLER) color.
That said, the other options are spectacular watches. I'm debating between a Spring Drive vs a Grand Seiko Quartz right now.... Ah, decisions.

Joining the choir: Orient 300M or the Seiko Marinemaster.
No. The Orient is substantially cheaper, a larger case if you prefer that, and a nearly 5mm sapphire crystal. Its a beast. The Seiko has a better movement, smaller case, and a slightly more dress oriented appearance. The Seiko is a lovely watch in the flesh. I like them both a lot but would probably choose the OS300 if I couldn't have both.
