Great post! Very informative. Thanks for sharing.Mark
Thanks for the info! And people complain about the 20mm bracelet on Sumos and MM300's!
Always count on Lex for bringing the scoop on any dive watch!
Dude im impressed with your knowledge.![]()
That was a very popular style of dial; see the top row. I have two more just like them but the dials are in pretty bad a shape.

Is it me, but where does it say that watch is the 'Jaws' watch?
The insert states "Hooper's watch is reborn using a vintage Alsta Nautoscaph and Speidel Mach 1 bracelet ... "
Then it says "In 1974 an Alsta Nautoscaph would have been a very plausible choice to place on Dr. Matt Hooper's wrist".
Is there more to the article that is not shown here, as what is shown surmises, not proves, what watch was worn.![]()
what watch that old "Hooper" was sporting in the film back so many years ago now.
Thanks Lex & people are still scared to go into the water after all these years from watching that movie Jaws, I guess the medical name for it now is Whitesharkititis.
Thanks & nice job,

Glad you enjoyed the info. folks, although credit for the scan must go to Rich from EOT's Dive Watch Forum, and of course the Stock brothers for their very cool article. The Jaws watch mystery is as close to being solved as it ever has been without the Jaws movie's props department or Richard Deeyfuss himself stepping forward with the actual watch.![]()

He lives just across the road from me. I'll pop over and ask him when I get back :)
So......what is so special about this watch?
Just that it was in Jaws?
Confessed Fanboy-phobic
That's news to me. I remember reading years ago that it was a Breitling Transocean (basically determination was based on the very distinctive bracelet). Apparently, that was incorrect.
It's interesting that the article is - I think - praising the 2824 antecedent. When the 2824 is largely considered as a 'bog standard' type movement by most watch enthusiasts today - even it is higher grade forms.![]()

not ready to concede on that just yet-as the article says, probably not the watch worn by Dryfuss. Sounds like they are making a guess as well based on the port hole bracelet.................the plot thickens
"If you saw Atlas, the giant who holds the world on his shoulders, if you saw that he stood, blood running down his chest, his knees buckling, his arms trembling but still trying to hold the world aloft with the last of his strength, and the greater the effort the heavier the world bore down upon his shoulders--what would you tell him to do?"
"I … don't know. What … could he do? What would you tell him?"
"To shrug."
