    Is it just me....

.....OR...does anyone else think that the NEW Breitling Superocean Heritage looks remarkably like the Omega Planet Ocean XL. Both
are stunning heavy duty timepieces. Except for the color offerings by Breitling they look very similar in structure and almost identical with the
black face. Wonder what was up with that?

    There are similarities.
I think it's obvious Breitling means to take some potential PO customers.
    Worked in my case.

Someone posted shots of a older SO from the 50's when this came up before with the noted similarities and they kept it within the Breitling family linage hands, bezel, one noticeable difference between the two is the depth rating and the absurd Omega burp valve. I have a Planet 45.5 which I like and just got a Steelfish XL this year which if you look at price alone as being a strictly single reason seemed to be to be a better overall value than the Heritage unless you like the nostalgia look. What I find funny is the Breitling is 46mm just a half larger than the Planet wonder if Omega will come out with a 46.5 kind of a dive watch arms race so to speak who said the Swiss don't have a sense of humor.

This is just IMO. Breitling has obviously recognized the market for watches with a retro aesthetic and this kind of design throwing back to an earlier era of dive watches is very popular and has and will be revived over and over again by just about everyone. There are some vague similarities that can be drawn from The PO. But Breitling have clearly drawn inspiration from a Super Ocean model of their own from 1957. Check out these pics. The new model aptly being named the 'Super Ocean' Heritage. Cheers.

In my view, the similarities are strictly coincidental. The Breitling SO Heritage may have some resemblance to the new Omega PO, but to me it looks more like the vintage Breitling it was designed to pay homage to than anything else.

I really like the new Heritage, unfortunately the two sizes offered really don't work for me .
