    Re: At last...the Magrette chronographs!!!

The Regattare Chrono ticks all the right boxes for me ... now it's just the question of putting the money towards a nicer holiday or towards the watch ...

To those that don't like the design, please stop bashing it for not being to your liking. It's not the designer's fault for making a watch the he likes (and many others) but not you. Live with it, go back a page and look for another thread to read. kthxbai

    +1

The styling of these chronos is very much in keeping with Dion's previous dial designs. The 03, 06 and 09 style has been used elsewhere (e.g. Anonimo) and I thinks it's a nice change from the "norm".

As for the Seagull movement, I have never disregarded a watch movement because of it's country of origin. So it's Chinese, big deal. I look at other factors here like aesthetics and price. These offerings from Magrette would not be $600 watches if they had Swiss movements.

I for one was pleasantly surprised by the pricing and overall package. I'm not sold yet on the PVD but I'll hopefully have the advantage of being able to see one in the flesh before buying, plus the brushed/polished finish does seem to have a bit more pizazz than what I'm used to seeing with PVD.

As per usual, each to their own.

BTW, that Stowa movement above looks killer.

Great looking watches at this price point IMO.

    Re: At last...the Magrette chronographs!!!

I like the polished PVD bezel (especially that), the numbering, and the overall style of the new watch. I don't care much for the brown leather strap; I think a black one would have been a better choice.

The Sea Gull movement might have given me pause me a few months ago, but my G. Gerlach dive watch uses a Sea Gull movement and it keeps time very well. My attitude towards Chinese movements has changed considerably.

The only problem for me is the manual winding. I know I would break that movement in a few days. Someone mentioned about buying one if new editions came with automatic movements; count me in if that happens. I really don't want a watch that requires that much attention.

I asked Dion about new watches via email and he told me that a couple more were scheduled to come out this year. (I have the 15% discount option A coupon and I plan to use it.) I think I'll wait for awhile. If nothing comes out that I like, I'll give the chronographs another look...

Whoa there cowboy, hold up a minute! The fact that this is a watch being promoted for sale gives me the right to express my opinion on it's design & why I wouldn't buy it,just as it gives you the right to express yours!Nowhere in my reply did I "bash" the watch,I mearly pointed out what I consider to be flaws in the design! If YOU had bought one of these & introduced it to us as your new watch I would have kept my opinion to myself.Had you asked what we thought I would have told you, albeit worded differently..
It's possible someone looking to buy one of these might not see the watch as I do(you for instance) however, maybe, just maybe,as you research the watch you read my reply & it allows you to see it in a different light, possibly shining on something that it turns out you don't like after all, saving you from buying one,not liking it after all & flipping it at a loss...
Like it or not that is what WUS forums are about.Live with it or go back 2 pages & look for another thread to read!

To those that don't like open discussion, that tolerate only one opinion, please don't waste your time on a forum. Open a notepad document, write "I love the new Magrette chrono. It is beautiful. The whole world loves it.", and read it again and again. It'll make you happy. Nobody will bother you again.
    Have a wonderful time...

    Re: At last...the Magrette chronographs!!!

I decided to try out the PVD chrono as I am a big PVD fan and love the case design of the chrono. I also bought a bracelet for my MPD. I've been waiting for a bracelet option for a good while and will wear the MPD much more now that this option is available. The manual wind chrono movement has me a little concerned but the service Margette provides lays that to rest for me.

The PVD version would look pretty cool with the black leather strap (red stitch) that came with the Moana Pacific Diver.

Yep, the manual wind thing does seem unusual but there's always the guarantee to fall back on if things go awry.

It's a shame the "Pacific" is not offered in SS.
It's a great combination of vintage beautiful movement, see through caseback and solid water resistance.

I think it looks pretty sharp. I like the dial layout of the chronograph at 3 and 9.
I too have a few Seagull Movements and they tick just as good as my Japanese and Swiss counterparts.
