Re: Metal bracelet options for the BOREALIS ESTORIL 300 watch

About 5 weeks ago, I finally tried on a cheap mesh bracelet to get a feel of it. Nope, it did not work for me. Maybe the quality of the mesh did not match the Estoril. So the kevlar strap, paired since July, goes back in again.

About 3 weeks ago, I tried StrapCode Miltat oyster for SKX023. Yes, the quality is top grade and can match up the Estoril nicely. Unfortunately, I'm not comfortable with thin spring bars holding the bracelet and the case together. I'll probably need to machine the end links, to cater for the fat 2.5 mm spring bars from Strapcode.

So over last weekend I switched over to another bracelet to try out.

Nope, it did not do for me too. Moreover, with no micro adjustments, 1 link more would be too loose and 1 link less would be too tight. :(

    Yesterday, I tried this ...

Finally, this type of bracelet is acceptable to me now. :)

In case you may be keen, the last bracelet I posted is Endmill from StrapCode. :)

Forgot to add that it came with reassuring fat 2.5 mm spring bars! :)

Did the end links scrub the sides of the case? This is the first bracelet tried on my Estoril, but the end links scrubbed the case , so I took it off.

Can't remember the source, but I believe someone said this one did rub slightly...

Very simple fix - just Dremel the end link ever so slightly. All's needed is a slight curved divot in the dead centre and towards the underside of the link, you probably wouldn't even notice from the wrist side. I even had to do this with a shark mesh to avoid it rubbing the case. Colour the end link with a black Sharpie marker so you can see exactly where you are working on and the untouched parts remain black - works well as a guide. Alternatively if you don't have a Dremel a 6" half round file would do the job.

You can see in the images below where I "Dremeled" the centre 4 links of the mesh - I real life you don't notice where I've worked on it.

I got a butterfly clasp mesh from Watchgecko, leaving one half of the clasp open doubles nicely as a wetsuit extension.
