Need Help: Halios Laguna or Magrette Regattare

I've been looking at these two watches and would like some input from owners of either or both of these watches. I know both have a pretty substantial size, but do they wear big or small and what is the comfort level on either bracelet or strap? I don't have any experience with the Miyota movement, so how is the accuracy and reliability?

I have a Laguna and it is both hefty and very comfortable to wear. I think the Laguna wears a little small, because every now and again I look at it and it strikes me its actually quite a chunk of steel.

The Miyota movement is noisy but works really well. The ETA in the Laguna is a little nicer and quieter but on average with the watches I have owned is a little less accurate out of the box.

I also considered the Magrette but am very happy with the Laguna.

don't know Magrette but I won't buy it because it doesn't come with bracelet. I'd go with Laguna, it comes with bracelet AND rubber.

In my experience the Magrette wears small for a 44mm watch.

The only thing I dont like about Laguna is its glass is flat. Hope someday it will be domed.

I've had both. Assuming you are talking about the Regattare 2011, the only problem is it has no lume on internal bezel, whereas the Laguna does. That, together with the design and lovely wrist hugging shape, make the Halios my choice. (why did I sell it?!)

Had a Laguna and regret I sold it
Still have a brass Magrette and compared to this the Laguna was a better quality, imo

Owned both - still have the Laguna.

Magrette is very comfortable and comes with a great stock leather strap. The Laguna also wears very well. Similar in that they both feature compressor style / dual crown designs.

I give the Halios Laguna the edge for:
    • ETA movement is hackable and can be wound (the Miyota can't be)
    • Better rubber - isofrane on Laguna v silicone on Regatarre
    • Bracelet with laguna
    • Better lume

Re: Need Help: Halios Laguna or Magrette Regattare

The main issue of Regattare for me is the internal bezel is operated with a screw down crown, which would be a hassle to do - I want to be able rotate the bezel on a fly for every day use, parking meter, timing my daughter's playground time etc Its lack of lume on the second hand is also a deal breaker. Can't call it a dive watch without that (same reasoning goes to Orient Mako, hence I purchased the Ray).

Otherwise it's a great looking watch.

    Hi Guys,

I love the Helios myself, being distributor of Magrette. Let your heart decide. Two excellent choices. The miyota doesn't hack, but definitely can be hand-wound.

Good luck with making the choice!
