Pretty cool, a great addition for Peter's line and knowing how good the rest of his watches are I think it is destained for greatness. I have owned and dived several O7 LM7's and they are very good dive watches but this Helson is a step up for sure, I would pick this over the new Omega 1200 because I prefer the simpler movement and lower cost of ownership, I love the locking bezel watches for sure.

Timing of the 600 release is interesting. Looks like the LM-7 Pro will have some competition.

I was on the list to put down a deposit on that and haven't even heard about it. Seems like it could be a ways off.

100% copy?? I don't see "Omega" on the dial. Therefore, it's a homage.

There are plenty of Renato's out there for those of you who can't wrap your tightly wound winds around homages... Theres a rolex forum here on wus where you might find yourself more at home too... Do you ever trip over things with your noses that high in the air?

I don't think one's nose has to be in the air for one to question the Homage/Replica/copy distinction in this case. I actually think it is a valid question what the distinctions are and they don't need to be hierarchical. To me, an homage is a watch that takes (sometimes very closely) inspiration from previous designs and combines them into something new (like the Moana's Pacific Diver takes its dial from Anonimo but combines it with a new case and bezel) to make a watch that connects to a tradition without attempting to replace the original watch. A replica is meant to comet directly against the watch it takes its design cues from (or in this case copies fairly directly). In that sense the usually look nearly indistinguishable (very minor differences like dial text) and are going for the part of the market that desires the watch they are copying, but can't afford it.

So there is definitely a distinction for me, homages and replicas are trying to do something different but overlap to some degree. Now whether it is snobbish to not like replicas or déclassé to like them, I would have to think over more. I am undecided.

I do know that one thing I like about the Sharkmaster 100 case is that it is different from the Ploprof. I like the dial and bezel of the Ploprof but not the case, so the 1000 fit me to a tee (am thinking of purchasing one if the HEXA doesn't update soon) and too me improved upon and changed the Ploprof enough to take into homage territory.
