The Sharkmaster 1000 was meant to be as close as possible to the 1000m Ploprof (Grand). The Sharkmaster 600 seems like it's doing the same with the 600m Ploprof. What changes are you referring to with the case of the Sharkmaster 1000? From pictures I've seen, it looks very very similar to the 1000m Ploprof case.
To me, both watches are a bit too close to the originals. I have misgivings about copying a watch and changing the name on the dial. That said, I have a Sharkmaster 1000, and it's a fantastic watch. I would never spend the money for a 1000m Ploprof, but I have coveted one for years. I'm sure the Sharkmaster 600 will be a great watch too.
To me, the last minute addition of the Sharkmaster text to the dial, in the same cursive script Omega uses for Seamaster, told the whole story about the Sharkmaster 1000. The 600 seems like more of the same (which is good and bad).

Well i cant afford the Omega atm. Tried several O7 Lm7 and the quality to me was under the price range. Lume was poor crown operated like there was grit in it etc. Wish peter had done the white dial but still might ordrr one.
I love Watchuseek but I have become less active and get so tired of the "homage vs replica" thing. It has been beaten to absolute death around here and it ruins many threads. The owner of this entire forum has banned replicas so it's not part of the argument to me . Many people here could never afford some true icon's of dive watch history. If Helson decided to make this watch then they must believe they will sell enough to make some money. They are in business after all to make money. I think it's great they have some truly original designs and they offer watches that are "homages" . Why knock them or anyone who likes this watch?

[QUOTE=Retina;4968671]No copy or replica question, maybe some people think this is some sort of sacrilege, never touchs the King, in the opposite site, this is a good opportunity to have a Ploprof clone, most of us canīt spend 5/6000 , God save the king!!, now more than ever. /QUOTE]
Well I think there are questions, so let me say this and then move on since I fear it is getting a bit too far off topic but I am happy to continue by PM). Also let me say I am deeply ambivalent about all of this. I am an artist. I sell photographs in a gallery. I know I would be deeply disturbed if someone came along and, decided they like the photograph so much they would go to where the image was made, make an image as identical as possible to the one they saw and then start selling prints at 1/3rd the price I sell mine for. I also make work that appropriates information and images. Much great art couldn't be made without artists being able to re-use and re-invent images.
These aren't just objects. They are the result of an individual or groups creative action. While commercial products receive less protection than those deemed art, I do find something troubling about the act of copying a watch without adding your own new element to it. It is my own background I guess. I would never hire someone to copy a painting I could otherwise not afford, even if the artist is long dead and would receive no money for it. I don't know if my beliefs make logical sense.

[QUOTE=pcmxa;4968820]We could discuss for a long time about this issue, when a company creates a new product has a high cost of development and creativity, industrial property law protects this for 25 years, is now completely legal to do an 1/1 imitation excepting the name brand, another thing is when someone has the audacity to touch OUR GRAIL. 8-(
I love this watch. I will buy one. I vote with my dollar. and I vote early and often![]()
