I've had the Aquis and it is a great watch and currently own an SMP. You can pick up the Aquis for under $1000 gently used. If they were both auto, Omega wins hands down in my opinion. If you really like the Omega styling, save up a bit and spring for the auto. If you are on a hard line budget, go for the Oris.

I'd go Aquis. Nice watch. I've had good experiences with both brands.

SMP. Thinner and better crafted. Doubles as a dress watch.

Interesting comparison. Many will choose auto over quartz regardless of make or model.
Not a quartz guy myself, but OMEGA makes a great product and it's a watch you won't need to mess with much.
That said I like the Oris. Good company, design and build quality. Price point and value are probably better than OMEGA as well.

If they're similar in price get the Oris without a doubt.
    Try selling a quartz watch.

I think they are both great watches, I'm sure you'll be happy with either one. I like the dial on the TT1's and Titans over the Aquis myself. YMMV.

Do you want people to know what kind of watch you're wearing? In that case, go for the Omega. If you want to fly under the radar a bit more, definitely the Oris.

Finally, if you want the ability to easily swap straps, definitely the Omega as that could be considered the one serious downside with the Oris.
