An original Seiko rubber strap would cost you less then $ 20,00.

    Good luck!

    Hey Rambo,
I had the exact same desire as you, and I wondered why no one makes a sensible quartz diver anymore. So I got this one from Ebay for $100, it's vintage-ish, works great, just the thing I was looking for. Unfortunately to find watches like this, some effort needs to be spent searching, you never know where or when one will turn up. By the way this one is 41.275 mm wide, without the crown, and a hair over 11 mm thick. A perfectly sensible everyday wearer/beater. I can always grab it and go, without having to worry about winding it. Or maybe check out Momentum watches if you want something new and readily available.

How about solar quartz? Plenty of Citizen EcoDrive divers and now Seiko is embracing Solar more as well.

Rambo, if your only objection to kinetic is the power reserve, it actually has 6 months of that. and with the pusher at 2 o clock you can tell how much power it has left. and if it ever runs near empty the second hand ticks in 2 seconds intervals. now even for a horribly anal person like me its good enough, better than a quartz in fact.

Thanks everyone. Tempus, sam, triton, bwana + everyone else. Great response. I'll need to have a think about it, seems like Seiko and in particular the BFK are really popular! Thanks guys.

I'd suggest a Precista PRS-18q, though it will cost about $300 US new (unless the dollar suddenly starts doing really well...). They come up occasionally used, and you might be able to get one @ $250. Comes on a Nato, but there are aftermarket rubber straps that will fit (I think OP said he wanted a rubber strap?).

thanks bigbluefish, can't afford it but i do quite like the look. the face looks like it is embedded into the watch, simple but elegant. cheers
