Reco a watch to a brother

    Hi Guys,
Currently I have in rotation a Rolex Submariner (perfect size for my small wrist) and a Casio G-Shock GL-160.

Since I travel alot I find I have to take both watches, the Rolex for my business suit needs and the Casio when I am being active or in the sea. The Rolex also lacks an alarm function so the Casio comes in handy when I have flights to catch.

I want to get ONE watch that can meet my business suit needs and also be versatile enough to handle my outdoor/travel requirements.

    Here are my requirements:
    1. Water Resistant to 200M (I don;t dive too much but I swim in the sea alot ... I probably don't "need" a 200M but I heard they have better tolerances)
    2. Smaller size case (40mm max) - I have a small 6.25" wrist
    3. Alarm function
    4. Solar-Powered (solar powered is ideal but ok with battery or automatic if it has the features I need)
    5. Under $1000 (I travel to some tough places so don;t want nayhting too expensive that if lost/stolen I would be out major $$)

Having gone through the archives I have managed to identify many 39-40mm dive watches, however none of them have an alarm function. Alot of the current solar watches are huge and I don't like the over-sized watch trend.

Note: I am willing to go to an analog-digi type or for a vintage used watch if need be.

If anyone can reco some watches that will meet my (above) requirements I would really appreciate it.

    thanks,
    Neal

This is probably off the radar of the dive forum, but what about a Casio MR-G 7500, or similar model? Atomic, solar, DLC coating that is really tough. Analog only, but has an alarm on it. There is one on the auction site for $900 now. A steal at that. I owned one and it was really comfortable, light, and tough as nails.

Seiko SNA141 meets your requirements(except solar)& is WAY under $1000.00 BUT has a dark green dial. It's hard to tell what color it is unless the light hits it just right & might be dark enough to slide by with a suit.Good luck...

I do have my eyes on the Casio line, I will default to that if I find nothing else, they just don't go too well with a suit though.

The Seiko SNA is nice but none available for sale and that green strap would not work in business formal setting.

Strange that dive watches are not made to be utilitarian in the sense of everyday wear features like an alarm.

You take your casio in the sea? no offence, but what do you think a submariner was intended for.. Work meetings? ;)

Toph - no offence taken, any moron with an internet connection can post their thoughts freely.

Would you take your Rolex to Africa when diving? Better to just stick a target on your back and say "rob me". Unless you've actually been to the places I go to don't spout BS. Its not the same as walking into the local mall flashing your diver and being all Bond like.

    Finally don't hijack my thread.

Wow... that was an unnecessarily harsh reply, dude. He was just play'n with you.

Here's a watch that meets all your requirements. It has a perpetual calendar and sapphire to boot:

Amazon.com: Citizen Men's AT4008-51E Perpetual Chrono A-T Watch: Citizen: Watches

You should learn what ;) means.

Based on your reply I doubt you'll get much response now.
