Should Miyota 8215 put me off?

Am in the market for a sub $700 diver... and was considering the Magrette Reggetare - amongst others - but was dismayed to find that it has the 'old' 8215 in comparrison to the 2824-2's & 9015's in the same short-list.

Should I count this as a negative? I did read in another forum that there have been reports of 'weird' behaviour with the Reggatare... anyone here with experience?

It's slow beat, so it kinda studders. It doesn't hack. It doesn't wind. All of these things tick me off about this movt. ; ) It does keep time reliably- but so do many other movts. I would look into a watch w/ the Miyota 9215, which does all of the above.

I wouldn't touch a watch with a 8215 anymore. The 9015's are just too much of an improvement.

    Just my two cents.

The first time you experience the 8215 "Stutter"(google it) in a $250.00+ watch you will just about have a heart attack. Also my 2 cents.

They are rough...but they do the job admirably. My Holotype with the 8215 is still my most accurate watch. The 9015 is smoother and hacks but interestingly still has a noisy rotor like the 8215.

I don't think there's nothing wrong with the movement...I believe the problem is, some companies, without first doing their research, use hands that are too big, and too heavy for it.

not a bad mvt, in fact it is solid and reliable... however for me the stutter is a show stopper as is no hacking especially at $700+, I 'll want a 6R15, high beat hacking Myota or ETA 2824> That's just me though.

Agreed...Putting it in Seiko terms, it's like the difference between a 7S26 and a 6R15.

Happened to me in a $70 Invicta. Enough to put me off the 8215 for keeps!

8215 actually does handwind. Though I've heard a lot about the "miyota stutter", I have never experienced it with the 10 or so 8215s I have/had (excluding the one that I froze in a block of ice in a Tupperware dish in my freezer...and it was still ticking).

Certainly not a glamour movement but in my experience much more reliable than the more popular ETA 2824 (had issues with 3 out of 7 ETAs and 0 issues out of apprx 10 8215s). In fact, I'm very careful not to wind any ETA 2824 too much because of the issues I've had...but would wind a 8215 all day without a worry. I won't pay too much for a 8215 powered watch, but I trust that movement to survive over any other automatic movement.
