Skin issue from tight rubber strap?

Hey guys, I have a VSA DM500 Chrono that I wear kind of tight due to the weight. I'm not used to rubber straps, and I am finding that on the tightest contact points that I'm getting some inflamed skin. I'm not looking for medical advice, I'm just wondering if this is common?

It looks pretty intense, more like a reaction to the rubber...Im no doctor but I wear my watches all very tight and the worst I ever got is some rubber strap patterns printed on my wrist skin after a long day. Try a different strap, silicone or else and wear it as tight to see if there some changes.

could also try disinfecting the strap just to eliminate, no doctor either but looks like some allergic reaction to it ?

Not a doctor, but I'll throw in my $ .02.

    1) Is the strap stiff and is it chaffing? I noticed some hair missing around the rash.

    2) Could some irritant have been trapped under the strap?

    3) Is it natural rubber and you allergic?

A little loose is better than a little tight.
My advice on both watch straps and motorcycle chains.

Seriously, my skin needs to breath. If I wear a watch so tight it doesn't move around a little on my arm I can get issues.

    Good luck :)

it's allergic reaction. VSA uses natural rubber, no way around it but to switch straps.

Strange it's concentrated in one spot - if it was allergic reaction wouldnt it be all around?

It looks like contact dermatitis to me (aka allergic reaction). However, I don't know if its from the strap. Judging by the pic, it looks like the irritated part is where the case meets the wrist. If it is a new watch, I'd be willing to bet you're having a reaction to the caseback....possibly due to a nickel component.
I'd probably not wear that watch for a while to help it go away. You might also want to pick up some otc hydrocortisone cream to help speed things up if it doesn't clear up fast.
