I see that some additional Anko's have been made available. Have to assume these are returns and have the same issue with the missing movement holders.

Because none have shown as available before now and I understood they had all sold. In fairness, with all the turmoil over the alignment issues, maybe they withheld any remaining stock until a fix was implemented. With regards the movement holder, I sent them a message to verify. It was my understanding that no holder was ever offered as a fix.

My understanding is that the design of anko precludes use of movement holder.

They seem hardly the type to accept returns.

They did increase production beyond the initial limited quantity, which added to some of the hurt feelings.

I thought I read that the watch specs initially showed a movement holder? I didn't realise that the design precluded the use of one (seems a little contradictory). I am not certain of their return policy, but with that many dissatisfied customers, refusal to provide refunds certainly wouldn't help the already poor optics.

Here's how they described the design once the defects were reported:

"The ANKO model has a “different” design and is more complex than the rest of the models we have made so far.
The inner bezel diameter (30.25 mm) is bigger than the gap to introduce the module dial/caliber (29.50 mm), and for this reason the inner bezel is installed from the upper side, before attaching the crystal. All the inner bezels are perfectly aligned “North-South” for the hour marks 12 and 6, the same as “West-East” for the hour marks 9 and 3.

However, the dial, which has a smaller diameter (29 mm) than the inner gap of the case (as all the watches), has a kind of play (0.50 mm) and freedom of movement that disappear when they are attached to the case by means of clamps and screws. This means that the centering of the dial in the gap of the case middle has to be done taking great care and always trying that the center of the dial is placed above the center of the watch."

No more Tactico for this cat. Too many issues with the Anko, and the lack of customer service afterwards was highly disappointing.

Were only some plagued with issues? I just watched a video on Youtube that was pretty horrifying.

Yes. Since there's so much play inside, some were bound to be good, or good enough. Mine was delivered good enough, but moved as soon as I pulled the crown to set the time.

Well, Ford Motor Company made the Edsel, and they also made the Mustang and the Thunderbird...
