I think it looks pretty good especially the bracelet. If it was thinner, 500m rated, had an ETA 2892 and they dropped the HRV I would consider getting one, even at a higher price.
Looks good. Is the crystal flat or slightly domed?
Lexvil, it is true that everyone has their own individual tastes in time pieces but a comparison of the Viking to the CDII is VERY different. I have handled the CDII and the Viking is completely at another level. Even though the Viking was a prototype, the high level of quality control in the machined and assembled parts was extraordinary. The impression I got from the Viking prototype is of a high quality, custom piece, not a watch of off the shelf parts. The CDII is priced accordingly to it's level of quality, IMO the Viking truly represents the pricing it is listed at.

Dave... Your pics are awesome as always. I didn't give the Viking too much interest. However, after seeing your pics and reading your thoughts, This is refreshing to see something new on the horizon. Thankfully the Viking is due around 5 months, which will give us time to save.
I'm liking the chunky styling and seems like there is a lot of attention to detail. To me, the dial design is somewhat uninspired. Maybe you could call it classic, but I feel the dial is lacking a unique signature look. The first time I saw the watch, my eyes were drawn more to the case than the dial itself. I would've liked to see a slightly domed crystal and 24mm lugs. At this price point, I hope it comes with a nice rubber dive strap. The thickness of the watch will make it top heavy, so I wonder if 22mm rubber will provide enough stability on the wrist. I often squeeze 24mm rubber into 22mm lugs, but seems like a cheap fix.
perfect......
I have found the pictures very interesting. This is an interesting design with a fair amount of thought going into the small details. I cannot recall a similarity to any recent designs and it certainly is not 'off the shelf' in amy way that I can see. Looks like a winner from what I have seen and read.![]()
