I will chime in with the Kobold Soarway Diver, original version with the 42mm case...

So many good suggestions here. So many watches, so little time.... or is it money.

A couple of more suggestions which I don't think has been mentioned, are the Tag Heuer Aquaracer WAN2110 and Longines Hydroconquest. I believe that both are about 12 mm thick. You really can't go wrong with one of theese or the Omega Seamaster 2254.50. Good cheaper options could be the already mentioned Glycine Combat Sub and the Archimede Sporttaucher.

I have a MK II LRRP Milsub which I found a bit too thick at 42mm x 13.5mm. When I put a Sinn rubber strap on it cured the impression of height as the curved ends hug right under the bezel.

I also have an SMP which is 41mm x 11.7mm. The Longines Legend Diver is 42mm x 13.88mm.

I second the Certina DS action diver. It's a great watch that certainly isn't too thick. Made in a lighter titanium version as well.

Great thread. The boutiques seem to be concentrating on the monsters.

    IMHO

it's not only the size that helps you forget you're wearing the watch, it's the wight, and whether the watch is a top heavy beast.

I enjoy wearing my titanium, lighter watches more, when in fact they're both larger than my stainless watches.

Also, rubber straps are lighter than steel bracelets, and help the watch feel stable on the wrist, further helping you forget they're there. Titanium bracelets have the same effect.

hope that helps, and hope you find your grail : )

Agreed, but they may also just be responding to the market and current trends. Either only people that are both taller and heavily built are buying micro-brand watches, or the micro-brand market has far different tastes than me. I believe it's the latter. It's strictly a matter of taste, but IMHO if you're an average 5-11 white guy with an average build and not fat or even chubby, a 44mm x 16+mm tall is going to look too big on you. I'm probably in the minority here. Cest la vie!

do you think it's as simple as the micros not having the necessary R&D and financial backing to engineer these thin cases that can withstand 300m or more?
