Question Tudor Black Bay 2012 or Omega Shom NOS ???

    Hi Guys,

An other difficult choice...so I need your opinions.

What would you choose between the new "vintage" Tudor Black Bay and a NOS Omega Shom 200m ?

    Please explain your choice.

For me the Tudor BB is nice but an ETA 2824 for above USD 3,000 is not cheap. The Omega Shom has its own cal. 1012 and should increase in value where the Black Bay may certainly not. In term of look, I love both.

My preference is a little more for Omega.

    What about you ???

SHOM. I will almost always choose vintage over new. I feel with a vintage watch you are paying closer to what the real value of the watch is while a new watch you are paying for margins that need to be included for distribution, sales staff, marketing, etc.

And design wise I think the SHOM is nicer.

Both. Get the Omega and buy Jake's Black Bay Mod. He has the bezel insert already and the dial and hands are being made. You can put the whole thing together for 10% of the black bay cost. You can also buy a coin edge bezel. I know its not the same thing, but you can at least enjoy the unique look.

'NOS' Shoms are shady IMO. They take a donor movement and build a new watch around it using NOS parts from Omega, this is totally misusing the word term 'New Old Stock'. Who knows if Omega will even service these down the road when it comes time. It will be a long time before they go up in value, if you look at the sales forums members have taken a ~$500 hit when they go to sell them.

Go with the Tudor, it's new, it's beautiful and has warranty and should hold it's value fairly well since it's popular.

I like to read different opinions, thanks. Those "new" or "nos" vintage will never be real vintage since they wasn't produce at the original time.

I am still basing my decision on the watch movement and then the design of the watch.

What I love with Omega is they have developed various watch design for divers when Rolex / Tudor is still the same one with more or less the same movement. I know two different companies and philosophy. Today Rolex is still Rolex when Omega is Swatch Group.

    More opinion needed please....

Buying a Rolex or Tudor is like buying a Harley Davidson or Buell, you can't go wrong. Buying a forty year old parts watch is always going to be risky.

That new Tudor black bay is a winner in my book. If you get a good price I don't think you would loose much on it if you had a change of heart, at least for a while before there are a decent amount in circulation, but I think that may take a while.
    Calm down.....It's just a watch....

I will look forward the 2nd hand market...in a few years. If the price is reasonable, I may take it. At the end, it is too much $$$ for an ETA 2824. Right now for me Omega is a better choice.

The Tudor Black Bay is too nice of a watch to be able to pass it up.
