Update on ZINEX NEW "TRIMIX" DEEP DIVER

First, I really want to thank all of the Watchuseek members who have purchased our first dive watch, the Zinex Nitrox. I have enjoyed hearing from so many happy owners.
We have received so many inquiries about our next dive watch project the “Zinex Trimix” GMT that I thought it would be best to post an update about it. When we set out to design and build the Trimix GMT we wanted to develop a deep sea tool dive watch, with an in-house design that captured the essence of so many of those great divers from the 60's and 70's with a bead blasted finish case. After handling the prototype sample cases for the last couple of weeks I think we are on our way to reaching this goal. The Trimix is a pure tool watch. The case was designed and engineered by Zinex and an outside consulting firm who also does contract design for military and private engineering firms. The load calculations on the Trimix case were determined with the same precision guidelines that you would find on sensitive aeronautical design. Even with all of the size needed to withstand extreme pressures it was paramount that the Trimix case had to fit on the wrist comfortably. As the watch is designed to be used as a deep sea tool diving watch we at Zinex looked for technical help from Mark Ellyatt, a true pioneer and one of the world’s leading extreme deep divers. Mark is a dive record holder diving to a depth of 313 meters back in 2003. Mark will play an important role in the testing of the Trimix for us.
This past week we completed pressure testing on our prototype Trimix cases. The Trimix cases successfully passed the 2000m pressure tests. Now that the pressure testing has been completed I feel comfortable releasing a few photographs of the sample cases, also some comparison pictures of Trimix next to our current diver Nitrox. When we release the Trimix we will offer the watch with two different dial styles and three different bezel choices. Each individual dial style will be available in either black or a vintage blue. The vintage blue is the same color found on the Nitrox.
As a courtesy to original Nitrox owners and future Nitrox owners we will be offering a 20% off discount on the purchase price of the Trimix. At this point the final price of the Trimix has not been set but we hope to offer it for under $1400. Nitrox owners will also receive a pre-order option that will allow first choice on the Trimix GMT diver when it is released. Currently the Trimix GMT is scheduled for a December 2008 delivery.
Thanks…
