Hi all,

Some of you may of noticed that i had my UTS1000M up for sale as was chasing a Vintage Omega it was actually a Big Blue but that has now fallen through so thankfully my UTS isn't going anywhere. But whilst i was trying to put that deal together i came across another watch that just sang to me and seeing as i get to still hold onto my favorite watch my UTS this makes the deal even sweeter OK so it not a Omega Big Blue but it still is a vintage watch steeped in history and all that really counts is i like it. I must confess i don't know a lot about these watches but have found a few good web sites if anyone can give me any tips on the best sites that would be greatly appreciated. I don't intend doing anything to it as the lume is intact even if its not bright but its a vintage piece and as such hope to leave it unmolested It is running and keeping good time and the movement is a auto wind Eterna signed Cal1489K in nice condition the movement serial number is 5757494 if anyone knows what that dates it to that would be a great start for me. It measures 45mm across including the crown and 46mm lug to lug and 22mm lug width which is great as it means i can use all my straps that i use on my UTS with it to.

Anyway here are some pictures from the seller and hopefully it should be with me tomorrow when i will try and get some better shots and of course some wrist shots on the different strap combos i have planned for it..

Hi all,

Well the watch arrived earlier this morning and i have to say its in better condition then i was even expecting the case really is nice and clean with sharp lines and i love the way the case forms the crown guards as it both looks great and does its job well. It also definitely hasn't been over polished and the dial is also very clean as are all the hands and although the lume is intact on both the hands and the dial it is very much dead no glow at all. This is the only thing i will need to consider whether or not to just leave it well alone or try and find someone that could re lume it without ruining it for now my feeling is to just leave it the bezel is also in great condition and only turns anti clockwise but does so smoothly and with a nice reassuring click to it. It appears the seller got it wrong when they told me it has 22mm lugs as they are not they are 21mm which isn't the end of the world so for now i have put it on my GasGasBones strap and am considering squeezing it onto my custom made carbon fibre strap as soon as i am sure i will be able to remove the strap without issue or causing any damage. I think i am going to look at getting some Zulu or Nato straps as feel this style really suits the watch well and they will be the easiest straps to fit on the watch with this odd lug width.

Also last night i managed to find a good vintage Eterna site and learned a couple of things things about my watch first is that the 1489K movement dates the watch to a 1967 production and also that the movement is a base ETA2433 then modified by Eterna so far thats all the new information about my watch i have been able to find. Talking about the movement i only set the watch up about 8hrs ago but so far it seems to running spot on pretty amazing when you consider this is around a 45yr old watch.

Hi all,

Thanks to a member on this forum and another member of another forum where i also posted this same thread i received two PM's advising me that whilst the case back, watch face and hands where all genuine Eterna the case with the crown guards was not. It is very difficult to find good information about the Eterna-Matic Kontiki Super watches and as the most of the watch looked right i thought it was genuine but after two members alerted me to the fact that they were never made with this case i have now managed to return the watch with an agreed refund to come as i bought the watch via E-bay and paid via Pay Pal with a credit card should he on receiving the watch try and avoid refunding me i have all the E-Bay messages between us and should have no issues getting a refund. So although i thought i was being careful and knew what i was doing it seems maybe checking on a forum before buying something you don't really know enough about maybe wise.
