I have a tritium lume on my traser, and as I sleep in the watch I find it extremely useful, and bright enough to see, if not a novelty like SL - I would be hesitant to spend big money on a tritium watch I was intending to keep for years though as they fade, and most watches wont be in situations needing the 24/7 lume

Yeah, I wouldn't go tritium on anything more expensive than my GSAR. Even still, that was kind of expensive for a tritium watch, in my opinion.

A man's watch is a very cherished thing. You steal that, you might as well be stealing his soul.

The thing the Armada won't do is glow well in a pub (etc.) after a long work-day... wearing a "shirt" (which means long sleeves) and often jacket. Lume needs charging. 30 seconds under a bright light won't do... it will blaze for a bit, but bright doesn't compensate for time. However, my tritiums are always ready.

I do agree that buying a very expensive tritium may be a bit silly... but I feel that way about any >$2K watch. My recent watches (typically two a year) probably average $500 each, and will be cast aside for newer toys long before the tritium fades away.

like stated tritium will last longer by far....but I prefer painted lume...I have yet to get excited about any watch that uses tritum tubes, looks like little glow sticks glued on the dial and gives most watches a "toy" feel imo

If you haven't had a Ball you're missing the top end reference point. Not even close.

That used to be true. Deep Blue has a few T-100 tritium watches that exceed the Ball. I know it's not true T-100 but the brightness is off the chart. For a lot less money. The Ball is however a far superior watch in every other area

Excellent article with good information; I would suggest using an Ultra Violet LED flashlight.

A six volt INOVA using two 123 lithium batteries charges my lume in less than five seconds and the UV light can be used in darkness without viewing a harsh bright light. Care should be taken not to view UV light directly into your eyes.
