Some early version of the G-Shock (rectangular shaped version). That is the only watch I wore in high school and thru college. I would go thru several rubber straps before finally replacing the watch for a newer model. I used them for everything: free dive, body surfing, fishing, outside work, for work, dinner, etc.....

Same with me...G-shocks went everywhere with me when I was a kid, and I would certainly consider G-shocks as "divers". My first "real" analog dive watch was a Breitling SuperOcean when I graduated from high school.

Re: what was your first dive watch?

My first dive watch is my Omega SMP 41mm quartz edition that I paid full pop at an AD. I will never sell it because it is a great memory for me. I told my brother about the purchase and he decided to join me at the jewelry store. While I was getting the bracelet sized for me, he pulled the trigger on a nice Longines auto! We both felt pretty darn satisfied that day walking out of the AD with our watches on carrying the sizable watch boxes. He was killed a couple years after that by a drunk driver.

A senseless tragedy - and so unnecessary. The technology to sharply limit a drunk's ability to operate a motor vehicle has existed for years, but not the political will to require it. Condolences on your loss.
