    Potential new owner seeks advice

Hi, great forum! Would love some input….
I am offered to purchase a beautiful, mint PAM 00050 (40mm) circa 2007, with a bracelet. Price is $5300.00 and it comes with papers and box. My questions:
    1. Is this a fair price?
    2. Do 40mm Panerai hold their value?
    3. Do Panerai with the ETA movement hold value?
    4. Would I be able to sell it for a price close to above asking price down the road?
    5. Having a small wrist (6.5), any other models I should consider?

Absolutely love the watch and look forward to any comments/advice.

    Thanks!

    Hi,
I just check there are several pam 50s on chrono24,some go as low as 4300 for 2003 model
I will try to answer your questions:
40 mm pams generally keep their value because they're harder to find in pre owned condition, the actual owner usually keep theirs since it is more difficult to find in ADs as well
As for the value for ETA movements,i think the 40 mm models are all powered by ETA

I do have the same wrist size as you,and at the moment is wearing a 47mm pam,my suggestion is try the sizes and see which one you like best..personally I like the 44 mm luminor case because they fit my wrist better

If you like another 40mm model, check out the 48 which is the strap version of 50 for the simplicity of a marina or check out the 244 gmt or 241 power reserve with hobnail
As an alternative, also check out the upcoming 392,it is 42mm version of 312 with in house P9000

I will try to answer your questions for you based on my opinion
1)that is subjective, but I would not pay it
2)relative to what? Other Panerai, I guess it depends on the model but they are not overly popular
3)sure...the most valuable Panerais other than vintage have ETA movements. The model dictates the value, not the movement
4)not possible to say for sure, but I would suspect you may have trouble selling quickly
5)any model that strikes your fancy. I have seen women wearing 47mm models, so get what you like

It seems your first priority relates to the "investment" aspect of the watch, not that there is anything wrong with that...no smart consumer wants to be taken advantage of. I haven't done any research on the cost or present value of the model referenced, but I can speak to how much I do enjoy owning my PAM 48 (the strap version of the 50). The versatility (like most of these watches) is amazing due to the ease of strap changes and just how many options are available. I imagine some have a problem with the model being 40mm (too small, not tradition, etc.) but I think it really boils down to the individual. I don't have large wrists so I don't like the way a huge (again all relative) watch looks on my arm. When I initially looked I tried on multiple sizes and kept coming back to the 40mm version because I thought it looked the best on me...4 years later and haven't had one regret. Cheers!
