Question Any reasons not to get a Max Bill Chronoscope?

    Hey everybody,

I've been looking for the elusive "watch to rule them all" and I think I found it in the Max Bill Chronoscope 4600 by Junghans. I recently fell in love with it and have been unsuccessfully looking for a reason not to get it...

However, it is quite pricey, so I want to do my due diligence... Is there any reason I should not get this watch? Any common manufacturing issues? Are there any problems with service by Junghans? Any new or limited editions I should hold out for? (I did a forum search, but didn't really find anything.)

Finally, if you think I should look at any other models I would be interested to hear it!

    Thanks for your ideas/comments!

Go for it, there is no better Bauhaus chrono around. I added a movement pic which shows that the ETA/Valjoux 7750 comes in a nice finish.

Thanks for the link to the thread. Lots of useful information, unfortunately no p0rn shots of the chrono But fortunately there are a few nice pics on Google.

BTW: Is there any chance that I could still find the Max Bill Automatic with the gold-colored face? I think it was a limited edition... (see pic) I assume not, that thing was so gorgeous I would marry it if I got my hands on it. Any tips on how to get my hands on one?

How do you buy one of these watches in the USA? Is there an AD or only through the Junghans website?

I cannot speak to Junghans reliability since I do not own one. But I can offer that I would have no problem buying their watches based on their rep. And as far as the looks of the Max Bill Chrono, nothing I have seen matches the pure exact 'perfection' of the markers and hands. Bauhaus Capital B. IMHO

I am waiting for mine to be delivered, I ordered the Chronoscope model 027/4003/44 that was officially announced in February 2010. I have wanted one of these for years.

It really is an awesome watch and I would love one. The only thing that may be a drawback for some people is the acrylic crystal.

Apart from the completely irrelevant date window I'd say: Go for it.
One of the best looking chronos on the market. You've got to love the dial and pushers :)

are there reputable North American dealers? Junghans USA doesn't seem to have them and the remainder of the online offerings seem to be from the UK.
