My Damasko DA36 decision process & final purchase...

I am interested in the Dievas Voyageur GMT or Damasko DA36...any advice, pros-cons, suggestions...? Both watches are selling for ~$1,175.00

Re: Dievas Voyageur GMT or Damasko DA36?

Those watches are all nice. It is a difficult choice.

The Damasko DA36 and the Tutima FX UTC have the same size dial (32 mm).
The Sinn 656 (or 556A) and the Tutima FX UTC have the same size case (38.5 mm).
The Sinn dial is a little smaller (30 mm).

The Tutima is more dressy. It has a domed sapphire crystal and a flat sapphire
window on the reverse to see the fancy finish on the movement. I don't know
why, but the Tutima is less expensive used than the other two watches. If you
are buying used I think the Tutima will give the best value. It is a very nice design.
I like the clean dial, long hands, and UTC function. The narrow second hand gives
    it a nice instrument feel.

The Damasko is very readable. I like the yellow second hand and day + date.
It is a little thicker and heavier than the other two watches. It feels more like
a "tool" watch. I like the DA36, but if you tend to favor it I would add the
    DA46 to your selection.

Like the others the Sinn has a clean look. It is a little heavier than the Tutima.
In my opinion the smaller size lets it fit in the same environment as the Tutima.
The small date can be difficult to read. If you tend to favor the Sinn I would
add the 856 to your selection.

In the dark none of those watches glows like a Seiko, but they do glow. I
would rank the Tutima best in the dark, followed by the Sinn, and then the
    Damasko.

It is difficult choosing among those three watches. I suggest putting watch
photos as the background on your monitor until one watch becomes a clear
    choice.

    Thanks,
    rationaltime

It kind of depends what features are the most important to you.

The Damasko is a toolish workhorse that will look new 5 years down the road. It's case is a technological tour de force of Damasko's abilities in machining and metallurgy.

The Tutima is the dressiest, and would look really good with a suit. Its nicely decorated movement is a big step up from the pedestrian but decent movement in The Damasko.

The Sinn kind of splits the difference. Not as dressy as the Tutima, not as tough as, but dressier than the Damasko. As far as I know, the movement is still top grade, and Sinn has an excellent reputation for making exceptionally well made watches.

    My opinion only, of course.

Re: Dievas Voyageur GMT or Damasko DA36?

Thanks for the insightful advice rationaltime & Will_f. Tough decision but I'm gonna pull the trigger on the Damasko since it appears the more masculine, purposeful & eye-catching of the bunch. Besides, if I were looking for accuracy, I would just buy a quartz. The flashy see-thru backs are just for show. The Damasko DA36 replaces the Bathys 100F I just sold on this forum.

Unfortunately, Watchmann.com is back-ordered so would Gnomon.com be a good alternative?

Gnomon is a good seller, but I would just order from WatchMann.
The wait shouldn't be long, and in case you do need warranty
work he will handle it for you. That is a lot easier than shipping
    over seas.

    Thanks,

Good choice (IMHO). I picked the Damasko for similar reasons. I have plenty of dressier watches, but most of the time I need a tough watch that still looks good. Much as I like a nice dress watch, it just doesn't make sense to buy any more than I have.

Fortunately, WatchMann had this very nice used Damasko DA36 in stock...so I just bought it.
