Audimars Piquet Royal Oak Quartz - Authentic or Fake?

    Hi all,
A friend of mine purchased a preowned Audimars Piquet Royal Oak last week. The watch is all stainless with a quartz movement. He told me that this Audimars retails for quite a few thousand dollars new, but I questioned the authenicity of this watch. I've never seen a Royal Oak mens watch with a 45+mm case with a quartz movement. I was unaware of Audimars producing a Royal Oak model with a quartz movement altogether. In addition, I asked to see how the chronograph feature worked. He pushed the upper pusher and the flyback hand just rotated in a continuous sweep. It looked like my wife's Michele. The chronograph feature appears to serve no purpose, other than looking good. Can anyone tell me if Audimars actually produces a Royal Oak with a quartz movement, and if so, shouldn't the chrongraph feature operate the same as the mechanical models? Thanks in advance for your help. If my friend purchased a fake, I'd like to let him know as soon as possible. Thanks in advance for your help.

Don't think the guys on this forum can help you with this one. There's not much talk about high end by brand/price talk here. You might try the public forum.

As far a quartz Audemars RO, there is such a thing, but I haven't seen one in chronograph.

You might try the Audemars website, too.
