Some gorgeous LED watches ...
These are NOT nerd watches!
Some great info on Beta 21 movements. (Their significance is that they were essentially tied with Seiko as the first commercially available quartz watches.)

Here is an excellent thread on hardened coatings for cases.
In this thread (and its linked precursor threads), Hans Moleman (Martien) does some fantastic forensic investigations with the timing of the one second "ticks" on various TC watches to yield real insight into their respective thermocompensation schemes:
Thermocompensation Investigations
In it, the pulse suppression method of the ETA Thermoline watches is clearly revealed. Also clearly, the Citizen "The Citizen" thermocompensation method is shown to be different than ETA's pulse suppression (and is mysteriously complex), but is shown to be clearly a digital count adjustment scheme of some type. Finally, the 9F is a bit of a mystery.
An excellent contribution by Martien, and fantastic teamwork by the forumners in general. HEQ at its best! I rate it.
This thread is a most excellent history of the Citizen watch company put together by the estimable Alex (Fatpants).

Here is our long running Accuracy Challenge thread, an effort to chart the performance of various member's watches. This kind of work is one of the core interests of the HEQ forum.
Here's a link to some excellent work that David (dwjquest) has done which quantifies how effective the thermocompensation of a number of the notable thermocompensated movements is. (Truly germanic grammar.)
