ARMIN STROM showcased the 2013 novelties in Munich, 01-03 NOV 2013

Venue, as every year, was the *****Hotel Bayerischer Hof which was first opened in 1841 as desired by King Ludwig I, who wanted to accommodate his guest in a comfortable place to stay. The Bayerischer Hof is a family owned business for over a hundred years now.

Armin Strom is an independent manufacturer, whose timepieces combine horological complications and craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics.
The Brand’s philosophy, inspired by founder and master skeletoniser, Mr Armin Strom, is to innovate and reinterpret tradition.

Founded over 40 years ago, the brand inaugurated the buildings of its Manufacture in Bienne, Switzerland, in 2009. Here, the full spectrum of skilled watchmaking professions is housed under one roof, enabling autonomous production right through to the independent creation of mechanical movements - a hallmark of ARMIN STROM watches. Thanks to this special infrastructure, the company can control every step of the production process from raw materials to finished calibre.

Movements are produced by the mechanical department, before being decorated and engraved by hand and assembled in the watch workshops.

Watch design is also done internally. Retaining close contact between conception and production makes for a dynamic and innovative product development cycle.

The Company, which employs around two dozen highly skilled staff, is managed by owner Serge Michel, together with Claude Greisler, director.

(The two enthusiasts)

The brand’s strategy has resulted in some significant achievements accomplished in a short period of time. Some notable milestones so far include:

The creation of five manufactured calibres since the Manufacture opened in 2009:
o
ARM09 (2009): manual calibre 7-day power reserve, used in ARMIN STROM’s One Week Collection.
o
AMW11 (2011): manual calibre with 5-day power reserve, found in the ARMIN STROM Manual Collection.
o
ARM12 (2012) manual calibre with 7-day power reserve, found in the ARMIN STROM Racing Carbon watch.
o
ATC11 (2012): manual tourbillon calibre with power reserve, contained in all watches within the ARMIN STROM Coffret Tourbillon and in the ARMIN STROM Tourbillon series.
o
AMR13 (2013): first automatic winding mechanism with micro rotor, found in the heart of the ARMIN STROM Gravity Collection.

+
Since 2011, the sale of ARMIN STROM watches across four continents: America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
+
The admission of ARMIN STROM to the exclusive Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie in November 2012. This honour testifies to the Brand’s mastery and know-how in fine watchmaking.
+
At Baselworld 2013, the Brand’s exclusive presentation of watches that are 100% manufactured by ARMIN STROM, with the exception of a selection of models with historic interest, designed by the brand’s founder.

The lifestyle appeal of ARMIN STROM watches has contributed to the Brand’s growing presence in the worlds of motor racing and yachting. The Marussia F1 Team and the GAC Pindar Extreme Sailing Team have become long-term partners of the Brand.

ARMIN STROM also seeks to associate its vision of horology with other skilled domains that demonstrate a similar level of technicality and passion for detail. It was in this spirit that ARMIN STROM formed a partnership with TechArt, renowned automobile tuner, globally recognised for its work on Porsche cars.

The ARMIN STROM Manufacture creates watches that offer watchmaking connoisseurs the joy of hidden time within the mechanics, with exceptional timekeeping distinguished by complications and sublime hand-finishing. This particular approach to the art of horology allows the founder’s skeletonising legacy to live on, with new meaning, made possible through high-tech manufacturing.

ARMIN STROM collections are only available in limited series. This principle promotes a continual process of renewal and makes the quest for the perfect timepiece an ongoing joy.

ARMIN STROM Gravity Collection: capturing the laws of gravity

ARMIN STROM Gravity is the first watch from the Biel-based Manufacture to feature an automatic winding mechanism with micro rotor.

With this first series of automatic watches driven by the Manufacture’s new AMR13 calibre, ARMIN STROM wanted to express the essence of a fundamental law of physics – that of gravity. Thus, the laws of gravity are used in an automatic watch to transform movements into a mode of indicating the time.

However, the ARMIN STROM Gravity does not simply provide a glimpse of how this transformation works, rather, the dial is designed to proudly display the micro rotor, which captures the power of the movements and transforms them into energy. The visibility of this mechanism is made possible thanks to an innovative concept of transmission for the rotor, which remains smaller in size than the diameter of the going barrel.

The ARMIN STROM Gravity collection is available in four colourways that represent the four elements: FIRE, EARTH, WATER and AIR. The ARMIN STROM Gravity boasts the same exceptional level of finishing that has contributed to the reputation of the brand and of its eponymous founder. This is a timepiece that will appeal to connoisseurs of fine watchmaking wishing to celebrate the movement in all its forms.

Armin Strom RACING TOURBILLON – a piece of racing history on the wrist

On the occasion of its third season as official timing partner of the Marussia F1 Team, the Armin Strom Watch Manufacture is setting the trend with the presentation of two limited series RACING TOURBILLON models. The distinctive red elox-coated and skeletonised bridges of its own in-house manufactured ATC11-MR tourbillon movement consist of an aluminium alloy, produced from components of an original Marussia F1 Team – F1 car. The beauty of the hand decorated movement – a brand characteristic of Armin Strom collections – can be admired through the sapphire crystal front and back and pays testament to the Manufacture’s full spectrum of watchmaking skills.

ARMIN STROM Tourbillon Collection

The Manufacture joins the highly exclusive club of horologers that develop and produce their own tourbillon movements. The tourbillon of the new ATC11 calibre is distinguished by a lever worked in 18ct white gold and an assembly that places the balance wheel and seconds pinion on the same axis.

A hallmark of the Tourbillon Collection is the exposed, intricate inner mechanics. The brand has promoted modern forms of skeletonising, with designs integrated from the early stages of the calibre before being entirely crafted by hand in the Manufacture.

The ARMIN STROM Tourbillon Collection, based on the elements FIRE, EARTH, WATER and AIR present the brand’s aesthetic genius and pays testament to the Manufacture’s full spectrum of watchmaking skills.
