    Amphibia 420 Blue Dials

I've been looking for a smaller sized diver for a wee while now and have decided to go for a 420 cased Amphibia with a blue dial.

I would like a deep metallic blue if possible.

I have seen loads of images of blue dials but it's really difficult to tell which is the best due to differences in lighting etc, some look quite flat in colour in one image and vibrant in the next.

Can anyone with a blue faced Amphibia offer an opinion?

    Many Thanks

If you want deep metallic blue then Vostok has it for you. It's one of those dials that changes hue depending on light & angle and it's very nicely done in a Russian budget way.

    I like mine very much.

Confused Re: Amphibia 420 Blue Dials

I read a Q&A on eBay where a potential buyer asked whether a Scuba Dude had a flat, kind of teal color instead of the deep rich reflective blue that is seen on vintage Amphibias. The seller said the newer Scuba Dudes comes with a flat color but it is more blue than green.

Makes me trepidatious to buy a newer Scuba Dude Amphibia, especially with the new dial designs. I really like the no-date Dude that comes with the 120, but haven't seen any real-world shots of it. If anyone has some to share, please do.

Here's Meranom's sales pic of it:

Could be flat, could be deep.

I've put the dial serge70 is talking about in a 100 case, and it's amazing. Sunburst and grainy surface combine to give an incredible range of colors, from navy to electric blue depending on lightning.

Just to follow up on my comment, I think the person who asked the question on eBay must have been referring to this (dial code 386):

It does look flat in most Internet pix, but I found some showing a clear sunburst:

I think it just depends on the lighting, as OP suggested.

FYI, the original blue Scuba Dude is dial 059 and it has a nice sunburst.

The newer, no-date Dude I posted earlier is dial code 656. Here it is in a 420 case:

Looks flat, but then I found this photo of a 656 (in a 120 case) showing a nice sunburst:

This settles my concerns... I may just have to pull the trigger now.

    Re: Amphibia 420 Blue Dials

So I ordered the 120656, but it still hasn't gotten here. Meanwhile, I snagged a 420059 for a song on eBay and it just arrived.

I love the watch overall, and the dial is a deep metallic blue, but... I don't see any kind of a sunburst, at least not indoors or next to the window at sunset. I will try again tomorrow in full sunlight.

    Re: Amphibia 420 Blue Dials

As soon as the 120 arrives (any day now!) I will hold a face-off with this 420 and post the gory details here.

Indeed I do plan to get an orange band for whoever wins, either rubber or NATO. Stay tuned!
