Video First watch in space: Shturmanskie, Pobeda or Omega?

I've made the promised video. Do you know which watch was first in space?

Thank you Arizone and Odessa200 for providing pictures used in this video. And thank you Arizone for sharing the story in another thread on f10.

Thank you for the entertaining insight into the hidden story of the humble Pobeda that, along with it's canine partner, made horological history.

    Cheers, Mario

Good job with the video! I'm glad that more people will see this story.

If I was to nitpick, unrelated to the Pobeda, I think that given the year that Gagarin graduated flight school in 1957 he was likely awarded a "type 2" Sturmanskie, same as the likely watch on the spaceflight in 1961, if it wasn't also his graduation watch, because the years of manufacturing "type 1" ended well beforehand in 1953.

Strictly by years, yes, it looks like Type 2 was already made when Gararin graduated but it is a well known fact (maybe incorrectly 🙂 ) that he got 15 j type 1. Maybe due to the fact that there was a stock of type 1 to distribute before they started giving type 2. Here is 1 source:
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poljot
And you can find many more. Everyone is under opinion that initially he got Type 1. But who knows.... you maybe right 🙂

Wikipedia's paragraph about his graduation watch only has one source listed and that source never even mentions his graduation watch, only the 17-jewel spaceflight watch. Dubious! I don't trust any of the Soviet watch pages because they are so poorly maintained.

Why Omega is even on this list?

Perhaps an acknowledgement of all the product-placement that they have paid for over the years?
