    Hey Vostok Peoples

Hi all. I'm new to Vostok. The look has always appealed to me so I took the plunge. I bought 3 Kommandirskies off of Amazon and was surprised to find the bezels spin freely, no detents or 120 clicks, just free spinning. Is this normal?

As a side note, can you recommend some models, Amphibias too, that are 40mm or less? Most I see are 42mm and larger. Any good sources also appreciated.

    Thanks

With some the bezel is loose like you describe and some are so tight you can’t turn them. If you search the youtubes you can find directions on how to adjust them, which is a trial and error process. Currently my favorite case is the 020, found on the Komanderskie, but is essentially an Amphibia.

If you want a popular Amphibia with a small case, there's always the highly regarded 420526, famously worn by the renowned oceanic explorer, Steve Zissou. Don't forget the rubber strap.

Friction bezels,bi-directional with no ratcheting.Designed that way, shouldn't be loose however.
The Amphibia 420 case is a great choice for a sub 40mm Vostok.
I fully recommend buying from the excellent Meranom shop.

Very nice photo. You should put it on this thread: https://forums.watchuseek.com/f10/th...s-4950651.html

Good tips and info. Meranom is a good site. I also came across a couple more. They look legit, but it would be silly not to listen to the more experienced. What about https://komandirskie.com/ and https://www.vostok-poljot.com/ ? Are there Poljots I should be looking at too? Where? I can see how you can get carried away with these watches.

    Thanks again.

Meranom is tried and tested and I'd go with them. I've bought from them with no problems. Take a look at SE (Special Edition) models. They have better bezels (stainless steel vs chrome) and better crowns (again SS vs chromed brass).

There are 4 official stores online:
    http://online.vostokinc.com/vostok/
    https://shop-vostok.com/
    https://komandirskie.com
    https://meranom.com

They are all pretty much the same, so just choose whichever is cheaper for you.
Meranom is mostly the most expensive, though it delivers to most countries.

I personally NEVER buy anything from the official stores, as the prices there are higher than average on the market. EXCEPT for the models that are EXCLUSIVELY available only in one of them (but this is not your case). Unfortunately, most cheaper shops don't deliver abroad. Good for me I sometimes have business trips to Moscow, so I can get a better price :)

    Re: Hey Vostok Peoples

The thing about Meranom is most likely the warranty is easiest being they are the outlet for the factory, it just cuts out that extra hurdle using non-Vostok approved dealers.

I'm hooked on the 060 and 090, I want a 710 and a 150 at some point, I have here a 090 and a "octa" amphibia, the first is still in a state of rebuilding, the latter is a favourite "go to" daily wearer whenever I can put down any of the other gawjus favourites from Russia which right now is a slightly suspect Poljot fish-eye and a Slava CCCP white dialled quartz. I do like to mix it up by putting on my home built KGB komandirskie or my tank commander then I glance over at my star shaped admiralskie and generalskie and then its my ovaloid admiralskie arrgh too many watches lol

A good rule of thumb is, your standard old 2414A movement Komandirskie is a rugged field watch with some water resistance and usually a nice logo or painted dial, its not made to the same design standard as the amphibia which is a military level watch meaning it should be for ten years from new good for 200m and not needing a service. Complications abound and the move to automatic movements means you saw date windows and self winding added to both branches of the brand and tbh looking at a recent Komandirskie, it has the same arrow hands, the same water resistance and the same movement as the amphibia and privately I say why not just call it an amphibia :S
Rather sad, slightly mad 3 wheel van toting cat doting ol' timer...
