    Vodoloz Dive Watches

Just discovered these, I am a fan of huge watches.

What can you tell me about the differences between vintage and the ones made now?

Also, what about the ones in the same style by different companies?

, for this reason I Do not consider this watch as a tourist watch. Another matter are imitations...

I think the Vodolaz watches are a reissure, not a tourist watch, but of course I prefer the 191 original. but its imposible to wear

Cheers Miquel, I absolutely love Vodolaz watches they are very coveted-collectable pieces, but its size and radium or titrio components made me stop purchasing them even though it was not a question of saving money. , In my collection about the 99 % are vintage ones. This one broke the rules because I wanted to wear it once in a while.

As we 've talked more than once, there are several ways of being a collector.

I don't think they are tourist watches, too. My 45mm reissue for HDR Forum:

    Re: Vodoloz Dive Watches

I believe there are perhaps at least five or six watches which have either a legitimate or false claim to be Vodolaz.

In first place must be the originals made, I think, from the late 1950s through to the late 60s or early 70s at the Zlatoust factory. There may also be Zlatoust dive watches from the mid 1970s with chrome plated brass cases - I've seen this suggested, but never seen any real proof.

Next must be the re-issues made by the Agat/Zlatoust factory which I think started about 10 years ago. Alongside the original giant size, smaller versions exist which for most people are more readily wearable. In difference to the originals, I think these are powered by Vostok movements.

In third place there are watches with the Vodolaz name offered by companies such as Moscow Classics. These do not attempt to closely copy the originals but rather use the name to imply these are good diver's watches.

In fourth place are the "tourist" editions, apparently produced in Saint Petersburg. These are basically fantasy watches usually with pictures of submarines, anchors or dive helmets on the dial or back and with a protective grill over the crystal which the Zlatousts never have. Unless sold with the deliberate attempt to deceive, I wouldn't call them fakes - but they're certainly not genuine either!

Invicta also make their "Russian Diver" series with the highly dubious marketing claim that they are re-issues based on a prototype which the Soviet government asked Invicta to make. I believe there is absolutely no evidence to back this claim.
