    Great review!

I'm considering my first Omega and this was very helpful. While I've somewhat narrowed my choices down to the PO and the new SMP, I have a lot of affinity for the 2254, so this was a great comparison.

Hmmm...Now that the 2220 has the Co-Axial movement, I wonder who would be the winner now?

Less than a week ago I bought my first higher end watch for daily wear. I had to choose between the two, and I found the PO too bulky for the purpose. If I had to choose a watch for diving, it would be a different matter.

    Taste is subjective of course

i think the SMP is the winner in terms of daily/casual wear. it is lighter and thinner which means less chances of scratches, easier movement of hands, and slipping into nooks and crannies.
I just purchased my first Omega as well, and chose the SMP 2220.80.00 over the new SMP and PO. Aside from the price point, I chose the 2220.80.00 for very similar reasons. Have you run into any issues with your SMP, if any?

Excellent post, I've got to give my vote to the SMP over the PO, although both are excellent timepieces.
