    Best SLR for the money?

Hello everyone. Id like some advise regarding the purchase of a camera. Im currently using a Canan PowerShot A70S. Its ok but has some limitations. Id like a faster lens and need to get closer than the current macro setting allows. Rather than using frustrating (for me)
buttons to manually focus Id rather be turning a barrel on a lens. I would want to spend as little as possible and still get the flexibility and "old school" feel I remember from the old days of the Nikkromat and Spotmatic film cameras...Thanks!

Moved to the right forum. "Inquiries" is def. not the place for such questions.

Check out this web page. Lots of good advice. I followed it and am VERY glad I did. I gave up my Cannon 30D for a Nikon D40 and don't regret it at all. :)

Good and inexpensive I would recommend Nikon D40 or D60. For more reviews on digital cameras I recommend www.dpreview.com

1st forget the sales pitch about megapixels, for the common person shooting for fun 4-6 megapixels will give you all you want and will save you a ton of money to spend on the real important stuff like glass. I use a Nikon D2H, 4 mp and I get 11X14 images that are stunning. The body is a pro body, built like a tank and sold for $4000 new. Now you can find them for $500 easy. Spend some real money on the glass.

Agreed. That's good advice right there.
