    Bird in flight

I happened to have my camera ready, when this bird of prey flew over. Not sure what it is (buzzard?), my knowledge of birds is very limited. However, I'm always envious seeing a living creature soar through the sky without any mechanical help whatsoever. When I was a young boy, I didn't dream of becoming a pilot. I dreamed of becoming an eagle.
The pictures were taken with my 75-300mm zoom at 300mm. On the Canon 20D that amounts to almost 500mm. And in spite of the image stabilizer it's pretty hard to take stable pictures out of the hand while following the bird with the camera.

Nice shots. The most satisfying ones are always those grabbed shots that turn out great.
Looks a bit like a Kite to me.

    Best regards

    Hi Ron,

Those are great pics. Glad you see those birds here more nad more. They are great to watch. It looks like your dream came almost true when you became a pilot,

    Cheers,

Great shots Ron. Looks like a hawk to me, but apparently there some are different terms for the same birds, depending on where you are.

    Re: Bird in flight

looks a bit like a buzzard to me, the 'old world' buzzard is a hawk and next in line after an eagle here in ireland, about twice or three times the size of a harris hawk. Its sometimes known as the common buzzard.

I saw one flying low on friday when walking with my father, but no camera with me

from last weekends trip where I got a little closer
