Wink I found Alligator Bugs in my Garden

"Here, creature, Creature!" (Tiberium Sun, civilians to Tiberium lifeforms)

Well, at least I found that these creatures are called like that... I saw them walking everywhere, but had no clue what it was. Finally my 6 y.o. son came with the answer:

"Oh, that's a larvae of a Lady Bug, I've seen that on a school TV program".

You are never too old too learn I guess. Considdered the amound of them, there will be swarms of Lady Bugs around our garden in the summer I guess...

It was quiet hard to get clear pictures. They don't sit still. Finally I caught one and after a lot of set-up's these were the clearest I could get. The bug itself was just a little smaller than 1 cm (2/5").

    Cheers,

    Sjors

If it didn't move, it was so bright colored that it looked like a plastic toy, but it was really walking...

Larva of a ladybug??? Can you link to a pic of what you call a ladybug? What I call a ladybug is only about as big as 3 of the characters on the paper underneath. If that thing turns into something so small, I'll be amazed!

Well, these bugs (that actually ain't bugs but larvea) are not that big. Though, it also amazed me that they are bigger than the mature imago. Funny is that the coccons of these Larvea already look like a lady bug.

In Dutch this animal is called roughly translated: "little our beloved lord animal", while it's in Dutch still one word

Me neither...... here's a picture I found on google:

Net als Vlinders zijn Kevers insekten met een volledige gedaantewisseling. De larven lijken dan ook totaal niet op het volwassen dier. Dit is de larve van een Lieveheersbeestje, een vraatzuchtige rover die jaagt op bladluizen. Dit exemplaar is een Veelkleurig Aziatisch Lieveheersbeestje (Harmonia axyridis), een exoot die aan een snelle opmars in Nederland bezig is.

Wink Re: I found Alligator Bugs in my Garden

Bram and a friend found Chrysalises (poppen) on a lamp post next to my garden. These "bugs" shrink in and make a rounded form. You can make more of the Ladybug form now. I even saw a young immature lady bird among them. Some Q & D pics:

Wow! That is amazing. Who needs Discovery Channel when we have WatchuSeek!

Seriously, I've never seen a lady bug larva. That's incredible!
