    New Toy...

    Hi -

Just got myself a new camera: EP-1 with the kit lens, off eBay from the distributor here, couldn't be sold as new because: it was missing the manual. Everything else absolutely perfect, and I got it at a great discount.

This was taken right after charging the battery, using the monochrome setting and the low key exposure program, hand-held. Only change was to re-size the image for putting it here:

    Sweet!

PS: Hamilton Masterpiece, I do believe a Parker B model, with the 770 22 jewel movement, on a alligator calf leather band...

I've been looking at the EP-1 since they came out. The 4/3rds sensor falls between the p&s cameras and crop dslr's. Love to hear an update on image quality and handling. If you get a chance my email is robrobin1 (at) gmail (dot) com.

    Have fun.

    Hi -

    I've been a 4/3 fan for about 4 years now (E510, then E30, now EP1 as well).

I took some more pictures today at lunch, and the camera is righteous...

I've had my EP1 for nearly a year now and its superb - I adore it - I think with manual setting image quality is as good as my D300s with Nikon 1.4 lens!

    Brilliant pic John -

Dont forget to update the firmware - there's some new stuff recently out by Olympus that significantly speeds up the autofocus

    Hi -

Thanks. Camera is on 1.3, lens on 1.1: I just love the fact that you can upgrade the electronics in the camera and lenses!

I got an OM adapter (not original) and will be trying out my ancient 50 f1.4 lens...

Great IQ on that little camera, huh? Amazing when you think about it. Wonder if images using the older Zuiko glass will be noticeably softer...

    Hi -

From first test, they're somewhat soft wide open, but pretty much every lens with less than f1.4 is soft wide open (even Leicas). On the other hand, you are using the sweet center spot where the performance is the best, and it's hard to beat the fact that the 50mm f1.4 becomes a 100mm f1.4...
