Outdoors with my U1 (modem burner)

I took a trip to one of the tiny islands surrounding Singapore yesterday, and accompanying me was my U1 on nato.

The kinda boats that we took to the island

    A curious cat

Rubber tapping - getting the sap from the rubber tree to make even more diver's straps

    Coastal shot

One of the island's wildlife. I've encountered their smaller cousins running across the dirt tracks, less than 5m away from me

Wild dogs - he's a pretty timid one. This one would only eat provided that I toss the food and take 5 steps backwards

Site of an abandoned quarry. They used to mine granite here.

Can you spot the mud crab? They live/hide inside burrows on wet swampland

    Catching a little sun

Taking a break on a pontoon

Gloomy looking swamp in the background....

...that looks better with flash. Smile trees!

On top of a 21m high lookout tower. Natos are pretty secure!

    Shot overlooking a gully

Someday I'll have my own yacht

An abandoned outhouse. I wonder if anyone still has the key to that lock

Another abandoned house. Circa 1950's I'm guessing. Storage huts, outhouses in the background. Those are durian fruits on the table in the foreground.

I hope you've enjoyed these pictures! I certainly did have lotsa fun exploring and taking them! :thanks

Great pics! Enjoyed them. You didn't eat any of that durian fruit, did you?
    Thanks!

i really liked the cat shot too! she was just sun-tanning and when i walked past her, down the stairs, she crept up and peered over. i wonder what was going through her mind then.

oh btw, her left ear looks clipped - in singapore, the agriculture, food and veterinary authority (AVA), sterilises stray cats in order to control their population, and sterilised females have their left ear nick'd as a form of identification. :) thought you might find this interesting

    thanks for viewing :) :)
