I would recommend to you any Sony mirrorless a6xxx camera. I had a Canon 600D but it spent more time on the shelf than with me, it was a pain in the ass to carry it around. So i sold it and bought a Sony A6000 camera, which is waaay more compact.

I love my Fuji X100F. I had a X70, than an X100T...the X100T is a great camera, but the F really has a few more useable additions, namely battery...that give it the nod

Iíve used a few cameras for travel
Trekking in the Himalaya Hindu Kush and Karakoram a number of times I always had my Contax G2 and it worked flawlessly for over 15 years until I foolishly sold it - but thatís film and people want digital.
I used an Olympus XZ1 - Iím sure there are newer versions of this

Also a Panasonic GX7 which was good for travel

    And a Fuji XE2s

And the Fuji Hasselblad XPan II (TXII)

But I still think a compact DSLR would be the way to go

I have the Fuji XT-2 and love it. The thing has taken a beating and keeps going. The kit 18-55mm is a great travel lens. I usually take that along with the 10-24 and the 55-200.

Mirrorless cameras are travelers best friend. Light, small, versatile. I have an entry level Olympus PEN EPL9. With the standard kit 14-42, it is barely larger than a point 'n shoot. Oly has a fine selection of Zuiko lenses as needed. I also like how you can send pics to your cell. Great for social media such as Instagram. Best wishes whichever route you choose.
