    $1 Church Sale Roamer

I hit a church sale today that is for their Haiti mission. They had a box of dollar watches and I was able to pull this great condition Roamer, a Nixon, a couple Fossils and a ladies Movado. I couldn't believe they were selling them so cheap. All but the one but the box are working. It might be a bad battery. I'm heading out to get another.

Sorry to be the killjoy, but while it's not necessarily a Bombay Special (though it may well be!), it is a redial, and not a good one.

Unless my eyes deceive me, the misaligned (and printed in font of rather poor quality) inscription is "SHOCK RESISANT"

The case appears to be in decent shape.

Maybe it's an extremely valuable "mistake dial".

I suspected it. The hands look overpainted. Thanks!

I acquired 2 Nixon watches in a bag of watches I bought because I could see a pretty nice Seiko in it. The Nixons which were similar to yours I sold for $50 each. Someone out there likes them. Helps to fund other projects.

Sad but true, and I am afraid the case does not look like one from this period/Roamer. It would be good to have a look inside to see if the movement is even Roamer.

First of all, any money spent on a Haiti mission is well placed.

Leaving aside the others, the Roamer is not for real (without knowing at this stage what's inside - perhaps a correct movement, perhaps not). It would be nice if you could move the hands a little and make a new image to give a better view on the markings of the dial (has it been sold with the hands in that position?). An image of the back would also be helpful and all could be topped by an image of the movement, if you are able to open the back. How, I can only tell if I see the back of the watch.

Does it really say 'Shock Resisant' on the dial? A spelling error on a dial by a renowned Swiss brand - you don't see that every day. Very sad indeed, this lousy job has presumably been done in a country that had been a British colony for so long...
