Well, if no one wants to begin, let me start the month then with this really heavy 1897 sterling silver pocket watch, pointed tooth escapement, watchmaker John Hewitt and son, London and case maker James McKnight, Coventry. Chester hallmarks.

33mm Porta from Rudolf Wehner’s 1948-founded Porta-Uhrenfabrik Wehner of Pforzheim, essentially a sister company of movement makers PUW. This one has a 17j PUW 360.

Whilst it’s not entirely clear when production of complete Porta-branded watches ceased, Herr Wehner seems to have retired sometime in the early 1970s with PUW discontinuing production of mechanical movements in about 1979 in favour of quartz calibres up until 1990.

    Regards.

I'd love to have that numeral font on one of my older watches.

I particularly like the 'watchmaker's 4' = IIII which should be IV. They say, this has been/is done for better symmetry on the dial.

Almost lost this one a month ago, the glue came undone on the strap and I didn't notice till i took my jacket off and the watch was in the sleeve..it's irreplaceable to me, so obviously I'm thrilled to still have it, on a new strap.

Just got this in the mail yesterday (yes, another ebay purchase - I'm hooked). A 1975 Caravelle manual-wind. Pretty nice condition for $34!
