    1000th post...

    Hello there,

So I didn't even notice how quickly this happened. I'm just spending time identifying watches, and then a milestone appears out of nowhere! I'm posting this here, in Vintage, since that's the place, where some 90 or more percent of my 1000 posts are. How many of these posts so far were useful, helpful or at least not a drag to read, I don't know. I simply like wasting time on talking about vintage watches- but as someone once said, the time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

    Cheers,
    MK

For any inquiries regarding vintage Doxa watches, please read the highlighted text in my vintage Doxa thread. Sorry, but I will not respond to PMs on the matter.

Congratulations on your milestone. I marked my 10000th post this year with something a little more special (at least by my standards):

    Re: 1000th post...

congrats.on 1000. I think back then I thought 1000 meant I was finally 'for real, for real' on wus. Like my opinions could be taken more seriously. But in reality-I would rather hump a bison then read my old posts and realize how little I really knew back at 1000. I came across one once from 2011 winced and nearly choked.

It was really the 5000 that crept up on me totally unawares that made me feel like this place is in my bones and blood by now. Without folks like Hartmut, Abslm, Jason(rolex) and many others who most likely have upwards of 8k-12,000 posts I could not imagine learning all I have without the steady guidance and of course the sometimes amazing contributions of new-comers as well. I do have to mention that a poster I miss the most is M4tt-usually on Omega but a real genius at explaining the mechanics of of thing. E.g.-his amazing essay on why all the f300s and other 'tuners' and destined to die at some point in the future (I argued back then that the [then] infantile 3-d printing machines might be able to remedy his dire prediction. I want to know how he feels about it now? (I think he may come on here once in a blue moon. And not forgetting Desmond either as I started as a total Omegaphile here.

But again-mkws- I don't know you so well but I understand that a 1000 posts takes a certain amount of dedication to this hobby or passion that others who can not understand what could possibly be so interesting about a bunch of watch geeks chattering on the computer (and I'm not saying it was my gal who said that either) just don't get the fascination of the intricate nature of the machine and how far man has refined it. Wus people get that.
