    1902 Elgin Wrist Watch

I was curious if anyone here had seen one of these before. It is 30mm square. The serial dates it to 1902. The number on the movement case got cut off in the pic, but it is 0912. Is there a movement number?

    Thanks
    Justin

i've seen similar elgins. hard to tell what grade teh movement is without wayne's old elgin site. all you need is the serial number. have you tried the NAWCC site? some of teh old-timers there have the books the break down the elgin runs.

i would guess it's either a 6/0 or a 10/0, but elgin had a lot of grades within each series. it's a seven jewel, so it isn't too high grade.

    Hi,

Im pretty sure the watch is a bit later than that! How have you dated the watch??

looking at the serial number on the movement... looks like 28382437.... using the table on here as a reference: http://www.pocketwatchsite.com/elginserials.html

It dates the watch to about 1925 ish - which also ties in closer with the style of watch!

    Nice watch.

Definitely a mid 20s Art Deco for men and the number/date suggested by Sparcaster seem to match well.

There is no way that thing is from 1902.

1920, maybe. But not 1902. Not unless the movement was recased.

Yikes! I mis-read a different database. I knew there was no way this was 1902!
