1930s Waltham Inscribed to GM Executive

1930s Waltham inscribed to Harry J. Klingler (1889-1966), GM Vice-President and head of the Pontiac division from 1934 to 1950. In 1931 Klingler was general sales manager for Chevrolet, hence the Chevy logo on the face.

    Hi
That is a great piece of Horology, and its provenance makes it more collectable

    Thanks
It is very cool and very rare.
My watchmaker has repaired it and hand made a new glass, but I have not seen it yet, as he is in USA.
It has only been restored where it had to be, like the glass and movement.
I left dial with that distressed patina.

From memory it has a MARVIN movement!

    Its really something else.
Here is a photo from a book I own:

Re: 1930s Waltham Inscribed to GM Executive

While I have many pocket watches with personal engravings ( most are from mom and dad's to their sons) I do have one Hamilton 748 Secometer dedicated to a Santa Barbara Catholic High School member of the football squad in 1950:

It's quit small and is the only watch in my pocket and wrist watch collection that has a gold case.

I spent allot of time researching the name (there's MANY Morelli's in Santa Barbara). I was able to find a Bob Morelli that went went on to become a "UCSB Gaucho Hall of Fame" player in Football, Rugby track and Field but he dated from the mid 1930's. I figure If the Morreli from the case was a high school Junior or Senior he must have been born in 1932 or 1934. Still getting a pretty high grade Hamilton in an engraved gold case must have been pretty meaningful!

Perhaps he was the coach and the team got him the watch ?
