I don't think it is a Captain Cook (no rotating bezel), but I still think it's pretty cool. I've always liked watches, but I am pretty new at collecting them--especially automatics. Any opinions on this?
It's got one of the funkiest style elements in 1970s watches: humongous hour markings that are way out there. I've got a Favre-Leuba that is almost embarassing to wear because it looks like something you'd wear in a disco with a leisure suit...
Very nice though: month/day/date indicator is a rather rare complication. Do you know what is inside?
i think that particular watch was referenced on another
rado specific forum, and the consensus was that it's not a captain
cook but a redialled Marco Polo model.
The movement is most probably an ETA 2836.
The '3' in the date window is on the day wheel
and simply indicates wednesday.
Thank you both for the replies and the info...that is good to know. I didn't think there was room for two digit months, so it makes sense that it is a day indicator. Certainly not a Captain Cook, like you said. Do you think it will be difficult/costly to reredial the watch?
and have a close look at the general shape and shape of the holes in the automatic bridge.
